Lindsay Kilminster has followed in the footsteps of his acclaimed grandfather John Love, a watercolour artist who founded the Adelaide Art Society (previously the Citizen Art Group) in March of 1952. Lindsay started painting when he was 10 years old, studying both oil and watercolour. He later developed a busy career as a sign writer. In 2011 his passion for painting was rekindled under the guidance of the acclaimed artist Peter Findlay, mastering a range of painting techniques and skills. Lindsay’s preferred method is oil painting because he loves their vibrant colours and durability.
Lindsay gets much of his artistic inspiration during his extensive travels around Australia and New Zealand, as well as from numerous visits to art galleries. Lindsay retired from sign writing in 2013 and since then Lindsay and his partner Anne have been living the life of part time grey nomads, travelling around Australia in their motor home, often venturing into roads less travelled and painting the magnificent landscapes and seascapes along the way. Lindsay loves the grandeur of the Australian outback with its vivid colours and changing moods throughout the seasons and captures them on canvas.
Lindsay and Anne have followed the Murray River from its mouth to its source and along the way Lindsay produced a series of beautiful paintings of the Murray River and the surrounding countryside.
In the winter of 2014 Lindsay and Anne travelled through the Northern Territories and Western Australia and along the way Lindsay produced a series of beautiful paintings of the areas around Broome, Kennedy Range National Park and Mt Augustus.
Lindsay loves painting a wide variety of subjects - landscapes, seascapes, flora, fauna - including a wide range of animals both stationary and in motion (such as birds, ducks, horses, dogs and more), motorcars, motorcycles, boats, ships, and portraits of people. Lindsay will take on commission work on any subjects at a very reasonable price. |
